Learning never stops, says instructor Nickatie

CONTINUOUS professional development (CPD) is an integral requirement for any complementary therapy practitioner, including all Bowen therapists. Various CPD training opportunities are available as well as advanced (SBP-1) and Masters (SBP-2) Bowtech modules 9-12.

These are available exclusively through Bowen Training UK, to any Bowen therapist who has successfully completed Module 8 and is a current member of Bowen Association UK.

Maintaining their CPD commitments applies equally to our own Bowen Training UK instructors. Some may choose also to progress further with their teaching qualifications enabling them to offer the more advanced Specialised Bowen Procedures (SBP) training as well as the basic beginners’ course.

Among them is Nickatie Morgan who recently hosted her very first SBP-1 course (Modules 9 and 10) in Hereford, having previously ’shadowed’ two such courses with senior instructor Jacqui Hoitingh (pictured). “Working alongside another tutor is always instructive as we constantly learn from each other,” she said.

She explained: “For any of us, therapist or instructor, the most important training is the initial basic beginners, plus Module 8 revision. Once that is properly understood, and with at least one year’s experience, progressing further seems a natural step. SBP-1 and SBP-2 offer new ways of assisting with more complex or chronic problems that haven’t been resolved using the basic procedures.”

Attending her first SBP-1 class were two of her own former students and Bowtech therapist Fran who came along to act as their ‘model’. “I know all three very well, and Fran is a highly experienced therapist which meant I wasn’t at all nervous,” added Nickatie.
