Case Study: Sian Rogers

LEARNING to become a Bowen therapist is an opportunity open to all, with many of our students subsequently choosing to leave their job and follow a more rewarding career path.

Sian Rogers is one of many such examples, having made the decision to train and set up her own stress and injury clinic offering Bowen therapy, after many years of working in a desk-based office environment.

She was no stranger to Bowen. As a teenager she had found relief from Bowen to help manage painful back and hip problems which greatly affected her quality of life. Faced with further surgery her consultant suggested exploring non-medical intervention.  Recalling those difficult times, Sian told us: “I found Bowen therapist Liz Jones and never went back to the hospital. Bowen made such a huge difference that initially I didn’t dare believe it would lead to long-lasting results.”

Inspired to find out more about this gentle therapy, it was nonetheless several years before Sian embarked on training. In between she travelled around Australia and worked in various administrative roles, while feeling drawn to a more caring, holistic way of helping people. Her Bowen therapist Liz recommended Bowen Training UK which follows the original teachings of Tom Bowen.

“I really wanted to get out of the corporate world, away from a desk-based environment which didn’t offer me the people-facing opportunity that I craved,” she said. “However, that background has been invaluable giving me skills that I have been able to transfer to my own business.”

Sian qualified with Bowtech instructor Nickatie Morgan in 2018 and opened her clinic post-pandemic in 2022. She has no regrets.

“Job satisfaction is 100 per cent better with huge satisfaction from helping people on their healing journey. My clients range from babies to a 93-year-old and come from all walks of life… architects and writers to farmers and builders. The most rewarding part is seeing the positive change and then not seeing them again for ages because their condition has improved so much thanks to Bowen.

“I have made amazing new friends within the Bowen community and would say to anyone thinking of becoming a therapist, while it might feel a bit scary, take the leap… you won’t regret it.”
