POSITIVE feedback came both ways following the success of our CPD workshop exploring the connection between the meridians and Chinese medicine, and its potential to enhance Bowen.
Praise came for visiting instructor Amichay Saller-Fischbach, for his teaching style and excellent resource materials, while Ami himself was impressed by the ‘deep knowledge and experience’ demonstrated by participants.
The two-day course (June 21st – 22nd) was held in Somerset, organised by Bowen Training UK and hosted by Bowtech instructor John Wilks. Participants from South Africa, Iceland and Turkey were given a warm welcome by John and UK-based therapists, all of whom were ‘engaged, curious and excited to learn’ judging by the many questions and client cases from their own clinic.
Amichay told us: “The biggest challenge was to simplify the very complex theories and make them understood so it would be easy for them to apply this new concept to their own clients. The whole visit was inspiring and enriching for me, since I run this seminar in different countries and regions meeting many people with individual personalities which offer so many different perspectives.”
Bowtech therapist and instructor Ros Elliott-Oziek travelled from Turkey and said the two days just flew by. “Traditional Oriental medicine is a difficult subject to tackle in any kind of course, but Ami made it accessible, absorbing, fascinating and fun!” she told us.
The intensive course provided lots of ‘acupoint recipes’ to use with Bowen moves. Ros added: It felt like we were given five years’ worth of detailed information in just two days… the course materials may take us another five years to get to grips with!”
While all participants rated the course highly, some expressed disappointment there was little time for practice, a valid observation which may need to be considered in the future, said John.
“We were delighted to host Amichay as part of our overseas instructor programme, offering the opportunity for Bowen therapists to learn from experts in order to enhance their professional skills and expand their treatment options when faced with more complex problems,” said John.
Amichay is a Bowtech practitioner and naturopath, also qualified in traditional Chinese medicine and Japanese acupuncture, who runs a successful holistic therapy clinic in Germany. This was his second visit to the UK; the first was in 2019 when he was a guest presenter at the Bowen Association AGM, followed by a CPD seminar showing how Bowen moves can be applied to ease scars, caused by injury or surgery, that lie over meridians.
“We thank Amichay for his time and patience, sharing his extensive knowledge that inspired us all,” added John.
